Even though consumer prices increased 5.4% in July, the Federal Reserve still considers recent inflation to be “transitory.” At the same time, financial markets continue to face headwinds, including the potential for Fed tapering, interest rate volatility, supply chain challenges, uninspiring labor-force participation, and the spreading Delta variant. Given this environment, yields have fluctuated substantially since the beginning of the year.
