Derek Schwartz is Senior Managing Director and Head of Strategic Accounts at CION Investments, where he leads the firm’s relationships with major wealth management platforms and strategic distribution partners across the private wealth channel. Since joining CION in 2009, Derek has played a key role in building the firm’s distribution platform of alternative investments designed for financial advisors and their clients.
Derek was instrumental in the collaboration between CION and Apollo Global Management to launch CION Investment Corporation (CIC), which successfully listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021. He also led the distribution efforts for the CION Ares Diversified Credit Fund, launched in partnership with Ares Management in 2017, and works closely with portfolio managers and strategic asset management partners, including GCM Grosvenor, across CION’s private markets platform.
An active voice in the advisor community, Derek hosts “Advisor Lab by CION,” a podcast focused on helping financial advisors grow their businesses and navigate private markets investing. The podcast was named one of the “Top 10 Podcasts for Financial Advisors” by U.S. News & World Report in 2022.
Derek previously served as Vice President for the Mid-Atlantic region. Prior to joining CION, he held roles at Legg Mason, Saloman Brothers, and Merrill Lynch.
Derek graduated from Syracuse University and resides near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his family.
